It's all part of the GOOD process

Written by Diane Jones | January 11, 2017

I’ve always been a fan of process.  This started with my career in finance where the entire environment is about “process”.

I was involved with purchase ledger, process with bank reconciliations, and process with credit controlling. When I made the career move into the recruitment industry the expectation of my role was to find the most suitable candidate for the position. Obviously, this is the end product but before I started as a recruitment consultant I was unaware of how much was involved in getting to that result. To give an example BPS World have just updated their recruitment process which includes 19 steps before the finding candidates!

So why is there a need for process in recruitment?

The main reason is we have made a commitment to provide good service to our clients and candidates. As a company, we hold sensitive information including CV’s, passports, bank information and other important documents. All the information must be dealt with correctly and in the right order.  As a global recruitment company, we handle candidate’s passports to support their working rights in the UK. The UK employment legislation is very strict and before we introduce a contract or permanent candidates to a client we must be able to verify their right to work and ensure we are complying with the relevant legislations.

Without clear process to follow we would not be able to deliver on such commitments and the process begins from an initial phone call which is logged through our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. As described by www.salesforce.com the concept of the CRM is simple: “It  manages most of your critical customer information so that you can look at it all in one place. Without leaving the application, you can view contact information, follow up via email or social media, manage tasks, and track your performance,”   CRM’s are integral for a smooth recruitment process, all subsequent activity is then logged including every following conversation with that candidate, interview requests, requests for information such as right to work and contractor documents such as certificates of incorporation and VAT registration certificates.

In addition to having a duty of care we are also ISO: 9001 accredited which means that we have a quality accreditation declaring our competence and this is also a commitment that we make to our clients.

While we have a standard process to follow, we also have to adhere to clients’ requests which can vary in different organisations, for example a FinTech company in Latvia may prefer us to deliver differently to a construction company in the UK so we have to be flexible.

We pride ourselves on this flexibility but we dedicate ourselves to accuracy and this is what underpins our activities every single day.

How good is your recruitment process? If there was one part of the process you could change, what would it be?
