When I first joined BPS World I was completely new to recruitment.
I received a book called the guide to recruitment for Christmas, flipping through the pages and fearing for my life. I ventured into the world of BPS and recruitment in January 2015. And what a world it turned out to be.A year has passed now and I have graduated from my apprenticeship.
Not only do I know how a recruitment business works, but all about my specialist sector (Engineering). If someone would have asked me what a Quantity Surveyor was 15 months ago I would have responded with “a type of fish?”
I am now having conversations with Engineers daily, I must admit I learn something new each day. My personal highlight has to be the day I was given a briefing for a role that would be overseas on a nuclear power plant in Eastern Europe. I was able to place this candidate, and over the gruelling 3 months it had taken me to get him on the plane over there I realised how big of an industry recruitment is, and how far I had come as a person.
It really goes to show that if you are committed to putting in the work, show passion for what you are doing and go the extra mile in pursuit for continuous improvement there is no limit to what you can achieve and the same principle applies within the recruitment industry and that is why it is a £multi-billion industry.
The BPS World Rising Stars Programme has not just allowed me to grow as a person but as a professional. You don’t just get taught an industry to be then thrown into the big wide world like you would do at University, you get to be part of it, and receive all of the personal rewards and achievements that go with it.
