When it comes to a new year, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of new beginnings and the possibilities that lie ahead. It’s the same for individuals, couples, businesses. The start of a new year is a benchmark that almost everyone can relate to.
2016 was a bit of a whirlwind and although it may seem tempting to dive straight into the new year and leave last year behind, there isn't much satisfaction in that. It’s like skipping to the next chapter of a book without finishing the one you were just on.
So rather than jumping straight into something new, I wanted to take the chance to look at what our top achievements were for 2016, what makes us proud of them and find the GOOD in 2016.
We evolved our brand
Our brand is very important to us, it sets the tone for our organisation, increases engagement both externally and internally and overall our brand defines who we are. The way we speak to our clients and candidates, in particular the way we act on social media, is crucial when upholding the brand.
We focussed a lot last year on our social presence, trying to increase the amount that we speak to our connections, whilst upholding the quality of content we produce. It was a great achievement for us to have our efforts recognised by LinkedIn who included us in their most socially engaged.
At the end of last year we evolved our brand in line with our growth plans. With our adoption of “GOOD Recruitment”, we embarked on a mission to highlight the GOOD in everything we do and throughout the recruitment industry. Most recently, we started using #GOODatBPS to show the good activities and events we took part in over the Christmas period.
Our Rising Stars Programme was nationally recognised
We were nominated for 3 categories at the IRP Awards in 2016, Best Company To Work For, Business Manager of the Year and Recruitment Apprentice of the Year.
Bradley Carton, who joined our Rising Stars programme in 2015 was awarded Recruitment Apprentice of the Year. This is a nationally recognised award and we couldn't be prouder of him!
Bradley's achievement has reinforced the credibility of our Rising Stars apprenticeship programme and is a testament to how much hard work goes into the programme, from the L&D department, our experienced employees who mentor the apprentices and of course our apprentices themselves.
It's clear to see how much our apprentices contribute to the business, the below being just a snapshot of their efforts and achievements.
We commissioned our White Paper, Brexit: What the World is Saying
At the end of last year we released our latest white paper, 'Brexit: What the World is Saying'.
The white paper is an independently commissioned piece looking at how the referendum result has impacted key players in the talent market on an international level.
'Brexit: What the World is saying' looks at various topics; the economic implications of Brexit, the effects on international talent markets and the freedom of movement, to name a few.
The creation of the white paper has given key insights into the future of recruitment in a post Brexit world and has also helped to strengthen international relationships through the collaborative nature of the piece.
Overall, we were able to take some good from 2016 and can go into 2017 confident in what we are capable of achieving.
Although 2016 has been branded as a bad year by some, I still think there's good to be found, you just need to take the time and look for it.
What was good for you in 2016?
