My name is Kit and I have been on a recruitment apprenticeship at BPS World for 8 months.  I decided to do an apprenticeship instead of going to University because of the opportunities it gave me; valuable work experience in an industry I am interested in and the chance to gain a qualification.

I chose a recruitment apprenticeship with BPS World because of its dedicated learning and development culture; the Rising Stars programme offers training and education across all areas of the business. So far I have progressed well on the programme, recently having completed my NVQ Level 2 exam and regularly attending online webinars which look at all aspects of recruitment; from how to make a sales call to understanding employment laws and legislations.

BPS World have a strong mentoring system and there is always someone to offer their knowledge and experience and provide support on a new or challenging task.  Having a mentor has been hugely beneficial to my personal and professional development.

Currently working in the engineering team, the projects I work on are in the nuclear, waste to energy and pharmaceutical industries. The projects are interesting and varied and I have gained an in depth knowledge of these industries through speaking with candidates. A great feeling is when you get an initial engagement from the candidate and hear how excited they are for the opportunity and the project.

Working as an apprentice at BPS World has taught me so much both within recruitment but also in the world of work. As I near the end of my apprenticeship I can see how far I have progressed and I would strongly recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who is undecided about what to do after leaving school.
