“The pen is mightier than the sword!” But is it any match against the use of video to promote your business and products?

“No” is the answer.

Video is the more powerful medium; we can process visual images 60,000 faster than text, we are 10 times more likely to engage with visuals and it takes only seconds for us to judge a picture which dramatically impacts our decision making. The “pen” is weaker still with only around 20% of what we read we actually remember compared to retaining 80% of the content if we put a visual with the same text.

BPS World understand how the use of video and infographics will have more success in attracting customers than producing a piece of written information. The business has recently invested in video to explain the company’s approach to operating in a global market and overcoming the different challenges involved. Video has been an incredibly effective way of taking masses of detailed information (which would take hours and hours to read!) and making it interesting and accessible to a diverse audience all in a short timeframe.

Creating a video does not have to take weeks of planning and executing, the use of a simple Vlog (Video blog) can be recorded on an iPhone and uploaded to a social media site. YouTube is now the second largest search engine so it is very easy to promote your company to a wide audience using video. BPS World have their own YouTube channel and regularly share Vlogs of their Apprentices discussing the company’s “Stars” learning programme. This has proved to be a cost effective and efficient way to attract new recruits without lengthy and expensive recruitment campaigns.

Video demands more consumer attention than any other medium but often companies do not recognise this as powerful marketing tool. BPS World understand the way people consume information is changing and the many opportunities video has to offer across different social platforms. Over 1.8 billion people have an active social account and the trend for visual sharing of information has increased making video the perfect tool to “showcase” your services and products in a fluid and interesting way.

So a picture is worth a thousand words and the irony of this blog is that if it were a Vlog my audience would remember more than 20% of it!
