BPS World are proud to have been listed for the second year as one of LinkedIn’s Top 25 Most Socially Engaged staffing agencies.

The list is created using data collect throughout the year to learn which companies are providing the best social engagement experience for LinkedIn members, this includes content performance, social recruiting and member engagement.

Social engagement is term widely used but it is useful to understand it in the context of social media:

What does social engagement mean?

Socially engagement is the number of interactions people have with your content, i.e. your posts. Interactions are defined as “likes”, “shares”, “comments” and “re-tweets” - It how people respond to your post.

Engagement should not be confused with:

Reach: defined as the number of people who see your content.

Or

Impressions: defined as the total number of times your followers have seen your content. For example, if your post on Twitter to an audience of 1000 followers, that is 1000 impressions. If you post the same tweet the next day to the same audience, the number of impressions are 2000.

Why is it important to be socially engaged?

Social engagement is communication in an online community.

According to CX Social, social media is becoming the dominate method for communication across the world and organisations need to recognise this and realise the opportunities for brand awareness and business growth in a social field.

Social engagement is the building of a relationship between your customers and your potential customers through social media. Using sites likes LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter you can create a good customer experience, providing solutions to your customer’s needs through specific content. In an article from Sprout Social they state that once a customer decided to engage with your business on social media, they are essentially putting trust into your brand to solve their problem. You can use social engagement to promote your brand and grow your audience, therefore potentially growing your customer base.

Why is it important to measure your social engagement?

Social engagement is a way of measuring how many social media users are connecting with your brand and to gauge the impact of your company in the social arena.

Through measuring your social interactions, you can work out what content works and what doesn’t, what posts receive the most engagement? This will enable you to create the right content for your audience, increasing your social engagement, drive reach and ultimately grow your audience.

Building social engagement is not an over-night event, it takes time and involves an amount of “trial and error”.  It is important to be committed to your socially engagement journey, to post content regular, be ready to adapt and to respond to your followers. Social engagement is about building trust and providing value to your followers.
