February is the  month of love so we looked to make our employees feel that little bit more special with our GOOD heart campaign.

Firstly, we looked at how we could have a healthy heart and not just by joining the BPS World weekly running club.  We participated in “deskercise” – exercises you could do without even leaving the office! Yes, we looked a bit strange exercising at our desk but these exercises where designed to counter balance any negative side effects you may develop from sitting at your desk for too long. According to the NHS excessive sitting can slow the metabolism which "affects our ability to regulate blood sugar and blood pressure, and metabolise fat – and may cause weaker muscles and bones"

The BPS World Tough Mudder team stepped up their training this month and we also promoted our cycle2work scheme  to encourage more GOOD hearts. There was culinary creativity in the office when we made our own healthy smoothies  and while we did indulge in chocolate on Valentine’s Day, we extended our GOOD heart campaign to help the British Heart Foundation (www.britishheartfoundation)  by giving every team member a British Heart foundation trolley token key chain (very useful!). We also collect bags of unwanted clothes, toys and books and donated them to the charity.

We also put the spotlight on members of staff, like Scott Hensley, whose GOOD hearted activities include coaching at The Football Focus Academy (ffacademy.co.uk) training children aged 5-12. GOOD work Scott!

Finally, we showed our kind hearts by promoting our ‘Buddy Scheme”. Learning and Development Manager, Marianne Hatcher talked us through how the scheme is used to help a new member of the team to settle in, become more confident and feel like a member of our BPS World family more quickly.  How was your Febraury, did you have a GOOD time?
